Cafela: Cafe with a homely feel

If you want the old school parar cafe feel, Cafela is what the doctor ordered. Housed in a ‘purono din er bari’, it is a small neat cafe with promises of a great adda, and even live music. To complete the old charm, the place has ceiling fans blasting off the heat (of course there is an AC too), the no-frills paper-thin-menu and, more notably, the run-of-the-mill handwritten check they serve. Quite an artsy place with excerpts from Bengali poems adorning the wall, alongside Bob Marley quotes. Drinks are very affordable and they make a mean coffee. The darjeeling tea is great too. No complaints with the food either. The machinegun sandwich is a good bite. The chicken patisapta is a lip smacking preparation you may want to try out if you are in a mood to eat. The friendly staff dont rush you through the order and take their time to serve. The place is quite small and, when full, can get a bit noisy for comfort. Cafela is located near Deshapriya Park.
