160 GB Western Digital Portable Hard Drive

Posted in: Gadgets

160 GB Western Digital Portable Hard Drive Today I bought a Western Digital portable hard drive. With a capacity of 160 GB, it can address my on-the-move storage needs which include collecting photographs of slides and specimens of histopathology, notes of forensic lectures, forensic specimen photos, slideshow presentations etc etc. Actually these days most of the departments in our college have embraced technology and a portable storage device is just what the doctor ordered! A pen drive could have done the job as well. But considering the cost-per-GB value an external hard disk seemed a more sensible buy.  While a 8 GB pen drive would cost around 950, I got this 160 GB hard disk for Rs. 3068.

The only advantage of a pen drive is that you can give it to anyone without a second thought but a hard drive being more expensive is something that you think twice before parting with. Otherwise I see no reason why one should use pen drives. Ultra-portability? Well, as long as the harddisk snugly fits into my jeans pocket I don’t really mind. On the contrary, there are more chances that you might end up losing your pen drive or fail to find it just when you need it most.

The drive I bought is a  WDE1MS1600BA. It has 3 years warranty. Check it out on the Western Digital site.
