You have a website online since last 3 years which is enjoying a good search engine rank. But your competitors have grown up in these 3 years and boast of fairly good looking websites. Your IT team suggests for a redesign of your site. And you approve.
Have you ever thought that your redesign of site can loose the rank it’s enjoying. You may have to again struggle getting the same rank, meanwhile your rivals may have a chance of getting better rank.
There are few “DO NOT” ’s which you can follow to not to lose your Google rank.
While redesigning a site, try not to:
- Change the inner page URL’s, File names etc.
- Change your link structure
- Dont use different page titles and headings
- Dont change the text too much
- Dont change incoming and outgoing links
You can say, then what’s there to change? To be frank, if you are enjoying a superb rank like 1 or 2 rank, then it’s better to drop the idea and be contended with what you have unless you want to increase your rank. Other are still trying to beat your rank! Let them try!!
