On Ranting Against Facebook

Rant alert! - This is not the blog where I intend to discuss matters of grave importance all the time. This is more like a personal space for me where I will rant and rave at will.

It might not have gone unnoticed to my friends that while I have raved about some features rolled out by Facebook, I have mostly ranted against the social networking platform. Well, it is no secret that I have considered leaving Facebook more than once. Time and again, in many addas, when I have had stimulating arguments with friends over leaving Facebook, I have always criticized Facebook and its users. A post by Johnda (Dr. John J Sinha) on Bong Buzz where he explains why he quit Facebook has even inspired many to pull the plug on their Facebook accounts. The bone of contention is despite bringing people closer, Facebook is a major distraction and a waste of time. There are many other points of argument as well but that is beyond the scope of this post. What I want to state is contained in a mail I wrote to a friend:

What I want to state is regardless how much we criticize Facebook and those using it, it doesn’t apply to us*. Whether we use Facebook less or use it more, it doesn’t matter. We are, after all, the stalwarts! :D

* Us means me and my intellectual friends.
