I don’t like the North Bengal weather in general. In and around Siliguri I mean. I know everyone raves about the North Bengal weather. Only I can’t. I still like the Calcutta weather more

I enjoy the North Bengal weather for like 30 days in a year. Out of which 2 weeks will be during spring and another 2 in the autumn for sure.

But that’s that. Rain is too rainy. Summer is extra hot and winter is too chilly man!

The summers here are strange. I mean ain’t Siliguri supposed to be cooler? Instead it is as hot as Calcutta, if not warmer! o_O The sun is more scorching in this part of the world I don’t know why! Also, in Cal there is always this hope - “shohorer ushnotomo dine pichgola roddure bristir biswas”. Splash comes the rain and wets the soul.

To talk about rains, I kind of dread the North Bengal rains. Last year it din’t rain much. Otherwise once it starts raining here, it rains! I mean it just goes on and on with no signs of ceasing. It can rain for days at a stretch. Life comes to a standstill.

Right now though, it is that time of the year when you can actually fall in love with the weather. The mornings and evening onwards the weather is just fantastic. Now this is really special to North Bengal where I can feel that ’spring’ is in the air. However this luxury is only but temporary. I know a scorching summer is in the lurking! And with it a long-drawn boring monsoon! :-/
