The New Look Facebook
Published March 22nd, 2009 in Internet. Tags: Facebook, Feed, internet, Twitter.Facebook is tinkering a lot with the look and feel of the site these days. The new look that has been implemented on this social network’s homepage since the past few days appears too minimalistic to my eyes which are used to seeing social network pages overstuffed with a good many things. Facebook is trying to keep it simple and effective, it seems, and it has ended up looking a lot like twitter. I bet you will agree with me on that! This is the second makeover facebook has donned in recent times.
The status question - the one that sits on the very top of your homepage constantly staring at you - has been changed to ‘What’s on your mind’. The news feed is now chiefly made up of status updates from your friends. All other stories - like album updates or fan stories - go to the right panel while the left panel lets you filter friend groups whose updates you actually want to see. As it has been the last time, many fans are yelling hard to bring the old look back this time as well. A group bashing the new look is trying to garner support from users. It aims to rope in 1 million members. But there is hardly any chance Facebook will pay any heed to this. If you ask me, I don’t like the new look at all. It’s not readable and worst of all the feed is full of quiz updates and there’s no way you can stop them! Mitanshu, a regular user of Facebook, feels -
Either I am getting old or the new layout sucks !!
