X-Mas Sees Release Of Movie For The Masses

Notwithstanding the 2nd prof. exams looming large in the horizon, we celebrated the Christmas in style. Since the day also saw the release of Ghajini, Saurav and I went to watch the first day first show at Payel. Payel is known to be the best movie hall here in Siliguri, not counting the state-owned Dinabandhu Mancha of course. On the way back we got a Monginis cake from Cakes R Us. Cakes R Us is a retail chain store of confectionary much like Monginis or Sugar N Spice of Kolkata. Then at night we had a grand feast. Our mess kakima had cooked Chicken Pulao, Mutton Kasha and Prawn. Suvodeep and Abhijeet had gone to Bidhan Market to get the meat. The cake was cut at first and then we started gorging on the sumptuous dinner.

The Telegraph writes Aamir Khan had worked out 4 hours daily for 13 months at a stretch to get the Ghajini look. That’s called perseverance. To talk about Ghajini, well… after the soul-stirring TZP, the Aamir Khan starrer is a movie for the masses this time - a package of everything the audience can expect from a commercial movie. There is this thrilling plot that borrows heavily from Memento. In the first half of the movie, it is a treat to watch the how the turn of events bring Aamir Khan and Asin close and how their romance progresses. The second half is packed with intense action with the 6-pack-abs Aamir flexing his muscles and taking on single handed with the most ferocious crime gang of the town. The music tracks are pretty good as is the choreography. Many a times, I have slept in the hall while watching Bolly stuff much to the annoyance of my friends but Ghajini held my attention all through I must say and was a good diversion in the tension-laden exam season.

Ghajini is a pretty decent movie but it could have been so much better. The direction was pretty shabby (the water dripping and cat meoing horror scene was comical)..way too ott..the background music was a real pain..and more over they managed to get a solid story like memento and puncture gaping holes in the plot.
