Last Saturday I accompanied a classmate of mine to buy a desktop PC for his brother who got into engineering this year from a shop I know here in Siliguri. It was an assembled system with an AMD 64-bit dual-core processor at its heart. The motherboard was from ASUS with 128 MB onboard graphics. Other specs are - 17″ LG LCD screen, LG DVD-writer, Logitech R10 speakers, Logitech keyboard and mouse, Western Digital SATA 160 GB hard disk, 1 GB Ram and UMAX cabinet. The system cost 20k/- out of which the most expensive part was the LCD @ 7,700/-, next in line being the AMD processor @ 4,600/- Good value I must say. It was assembled in 2 hours - meanwhile I busied myself playing Sudoku. We brought it to my room so that I could install an OS. Linux that is. No piracy!
