27th June was my birthday. With the 1st prof examinations almost coinciding with this date last year, this time it was gonna be a special event! So it did. I celebrated my birthday with much pomp and grandeur for two days in a row. Gathered with my buddies at Sartaj. 6 of my classmates and a Delhi friend attended the birthday bash. We really had a great time. I captured the memorable moments on my all new Canon digicam, a b’day gift from my parents. One picture from day one goes below. On day two it was 5 of us.

I got a good many gifts. Thanks to all my friends for their wonderful gifts. Of special mention is the gift from Saswata and Ananda, a book I was longing to read - Brida by Paulo Coelho. Also, a huge bouquet of flowers from Suvo and Abhijit really touched me though I was sceptical in the beginning thinking it was one of their leg-pulling ploys and took some time to appreciate it! More than anything it was their presence that mattered most. Most of my friends who were at home cut short their holiday plans to return by 27th. More gifts are waiting at home which I’ll have to uncover once I get home after my semester exams end on 30th July, that is.

A few words on Sartaj. I always heard this is one of the best restaurants in Siliguri. This was the first time I went there. Boy, I am really impressed! The stunning light decorations and sparkling interiors left me spellbound. Sartaj really has a rocking ambience and packs a party mood. (The washroom was not up to the mark though, it seriously needs a makeover.) No questions can be raised on the food - it sure is great. Prices too are reasonable for an upscale restaurant like this.
