Customer Care tactics

Often I am baffled by the answers the customer care (CC) representatives give me when i call the helpline of, say, any cellular operator. Well here is some of my experiences I have had with Airtel and BSNL.

Case I (Airtel)
I: My GPRS service has been activated and Rs. 99 has been deducted already. Yet I am unable to surf because you haven’t sent me the settings yet. Please send it.
CC: Sorry, the GPRS service is down tonight. Please call tomorrow morning.

Case II (BSNL)
I: I want to activate full internet access. Tell me how.
CC: Sorry, the facility is not available any more.

In both cases they have told blatant lies to cover up for their lack of knowledge. This kind of behaviour is not only unacceptable but it may also confuse the customers. The response I got from BSNL left me baffled as I really believed them at that time and gave up hope of enjoying GPRS!

    They lie on e-mails too!

    I have written on numerous occasions to Airtel about their on and off EDGE service on my BlackBerry. They usually reply 3-4 days later saying that the service was down that day due to a ‘technical upgradation’. They have NEVER replied to my follow-up mail when I ask them what the upgradation was about or what has been the difference after the so-called upgradation. Seems that these people only know how to lie to avoid the core problem - They do NOT have the infrastructure to support high speed data trasnfer on mobile phones.

    Hope that someday their PR-guys listen to what is being said about them on the internet.

    i had asked for activation of scehme in which i can call any airtel user at 15 paise/min. for this i had sent the msg on 1515 but not yet activated after 1 week of sending the msg & when i called customer care nobody was able to sort out this or activate the same

    I am a BSNL postpaid customer and I have got my GPRS activated about three months back. Of course, the GPRS was working fine with my EDGE enabled handset and now, about five days back, the GPRS stopped working due to some problems with the BSNL Server. From next day onwards, I started getting the GPRS, but the speed was terribly low compared to the speed which I was getting earlier. Earlier, the data transfer rate (download rate) was nearly 11.0 kbps with less disturbance resulting in lower rates of transfer. Now, it is only barely 2.5 to 3.0 kbps. When contacted, I got the reply from the BSNL Customer Care Centre that I need to wait for another one week because their Server was just made ready and the speed of data transfer will be restored in about a week’s time failing which, I can lodge a complaint with them again. I expect that BSNL will rise to the customer expectations on GPRS and keep the assurances given to me.

    Besides, the call rates of BSNL prepaid and/or postpaid plans are too high. BSNL has never cared to slash even a single paise even after reduction of many charges by the TRAI, after which many private operators started offering considerably low call rates to their customers.
    It is not known whether BSNL higherups are bribed by the private operators for keeping the rates too high to alienate the customer from BSNL. If not, when BSNL is going to slash the call rates?

    I have a prepaid connection of cellone.I have Nokia 6300 handset and send the request for gprs activation.But actually i don’t get it’s settings then what should i do now.Customercare r not responding properly.

    My BSNL GPRS internet browsing became in accessible from past one month.I have sent E-MAIL to the Executive Incharge concerned. But nothing has been done even after onw week.

    dear menbers,

    I have motorola V3i with airtel prepaid connection. If i activated gprs in my mobile connect succesfully and i can brose on the phone via mobile office its working. Then i connect to my pc via moto cable i click web session then open a mini port then user name pass then connect succesfully, in the task bar showing airtel gprs connected but i cannot browse any site on my computer. i ll take help with customer care people but they cannot help . Please help me . how can i browse internet from my pc?

    hi i have some problem pls solve this promblem.

    i at mulund in mumbai but here bsnl range is not available but dolphin range is available. when if i call form nashik through landline phone 99 rs of 1 india plan on my mulund mobile. pls tel me that time can (all bsnl mobile free) have free call or pay the charge of call. pls tel me fast argent

    But Now when we enables the connection, firstly yhe message cam connecting. But afterthat the “Unable to establish secured connection” came. But we have to do to enables the conection
