Gmail Mobile Client

GmailGoogle has launched a java-based mobile client. The Gmail mobile client, going to make your Gmail experience a lot faster, supports a wide range of Java-enabled mobile devices including Nokia 6030 that I have. Good news is that it is available in India too. Point your mobile browser to gmail.com/app to download it for free (usual charges as per your wireless service plan apply). Access to Gmail on mobile was already there, but with this app you can access your mail quickly without having to load your mobile browser.

The new Gmail for mobile client launching today began life as a challenge: What if we could develop a Gmail application for cell phones that was as powerful and as easy to use as the desktop version? What if it ran on hundreds of different mobile devices — and made it possible to compose, read, and respond to conversations with a bare minimum of clicking and scrolling? What if it enabled you to do things like search your inbox, view your attachments (including pictures and PDF files), and click to call your Gmail contacts? And what if the app were designed to make the whole experience as fast and as seamless as possible?

I am thinking about not using Gmail mobile for one reason: what if someone has mail accounts other than gmail (hotmail, yahoo…)? He has to install 2 or 3 applications to manage his accounts from mobile. Why not use only one program that can do all that. I have been using Movamail http://movamail.com/ for a long time and I am satisfied with it.
Managing from one place sound better for me!

I have NOKIA 6030 mobile phone. I downloaded gmail application on my
mobile phone. I was very pleased to see its look on my small secren, I
tried to compose a mail through this application, but when I tried
send it asked me to subscribe first packet data. It seems me
different, bcause I am already accessing gamil directly through Wap.
How can I erradicate this problem.
When contacted FAQ on gmail, they sent this info:

In order to operate, Gmail requires your device to have a working data plan, and your phone has to be configured to allow network connections from Java applications. Please contact your mobile service provider to make sure you’re subscribed to an appropriate data plan. Your provider can also check the connection settings for your phone.
You may also have to change the network connection settings on your mobile device in order for the Gmail for mobile application to access the internet properly. We recommend a direct internet connection, often called ‘Web APN,’ ‘Internet APN,’ or ‘direct GPRS connection.’ If you’re not sure what type of connection you have, please look for the terms ‘Gateway,’ ‘WAP Proxy,’ ‘Proxy (IP) address,’ or ‘Proxy server address’ in the network connections menu. If one of these is present, and a value filled in, it probably means that Gmail is using a WAP connection rather than a direct connection. A direct internet connection doesn’t use a gateway or proxy address. If the Gmail application is accessing the internet through a WAP connection (or ‘WAP APN’), you’ll likely need to create a new direct connection. Instructions for configuring direct connections vary by device and mobile provider,

    PL HELP ME ON THIS.
