I am using BSNL Excel Prepaid but not really satisfied with it. They are charging 90 p/min within BSNL network and Rs. 1.20/min outside BSNL network. 60 p per SMS within home network and Re. 1 outside network. With Hutch or Airtel the call rates are 30 p & 60 p once you buy a monthly power - something yet to strike the BSNL thinktank.
The GPRS Plan from BSNL is irking me most. It is priced exorbitantly - 2 paise per KB! Whereas Airtel provides unlimited WAP internet access for a tariff of just Rs. 99 a month. Reason enough for me to shift to Airtel. I am still sticking to BSNL just because of Excel Power. But can’t say for how long.

That’s not true! The excel prepaid of bsnl is the best prepaid plan…I agree others have a lot of offers, but they have limitations…where as the bsnl plan is consistent..and reliable..60 ps/sms is the lowest rate in india for any prepaid customer..unless there are special offers…those are limited too.
Yes.BSNL will stick to its offers unlike Hutch or Airtel who keep on changing offers every day.It costs less in the long run.

bsnl mobile to bsnl landline 2/-Rs.
bsnl mobile to other mobile 2.50/-Rs.
bsnl mobile to other landline 3/-Rs.
bsnl mobile to std landline 5/-Rs.
bsnl mobile to std other mobile 4.50/-Rs.
sms are also 50% of the above charges
and recharge within 6 month at one time to extend the incoming

Pros
The coverage is very good reaching to the remotest areas.
The plans are good for customers who do not use the phone for extensive calling.
The ananth plan is the cheapest for keeping a mobile for incoming only. (I do not think there is anything to beat this)
Cons
The charge of 1.20/min for other n/w is very high compared to any other plans of rivals.
The coverage is good, but the connectivity is pathetic.
The cell routes are often clogged at peak time, so that it requires more than 3 attempts to establish calls.
The above applies for a caller who is calling to my phone.
The GPRS connectivity charges is simply outrageous. No special monthly GPRS plans for unlimited usage.
BSNL may disappear soon from Indian mobile competition.
Well my dad is in BSNL but i m customer in a different state the coverage in my home excellent even connectivity bt here it sucks BSNL plays jst zone wise… and ya BSNL never falls back on its offers…. not like reliance airtel or hutch give GPRS for 99 then increase it to a ridiculous Rs 250 pm y wont a person take broadband then!?? or give free interstate calling (RIM) now customer has ur phone so stop it he cant throw away the phone!!!

They are currently offering for limited time 10 kb / 1 paise instead of 1kgb/ 2 paise.

Now days the Bsnl Net work Coverage very poor. while speeking to other line disconnected.
more rate wise its ok. they try to introduced the Booster like airtel, vodofone, aircel, …

I have been using Aircel and Hutch - As I was using minimum, I used to buy Rs 200 card monthly - but unfortunately, the talk time given is only about 40 out of which a daily rental in the name of free sms is deducted resulting in Rs 30 a month. This leaves hardly Rs 10 talktime. There are no such daily rental deduction in BSNL. You are charged for whatever use you make. I am satisfied with it.

first i am using hutch, but my familay member use bsnl so i convert in bsnl but its services its very borring and zero, when i call customer care than after 1hrs. i talk with customer care and other facility is also very poorer, so i think again with my family member convert in hutch.

I was bsnl excel user and converted it to ‘anant’ The validity was for 6 months, the expiry date was 24/04/08. Under the impression that there is a grace period of 7 days, I got it recharged, today that is 25/04/08 and to my dismay I find that I have lost the existing balance of Rs. 1600 amd odd. This is sheer fleecing of the customer. Either bsnl should give grace period of 7 days, just as in the case of other schemes, or they should add a line to the messages they sent that ‘ grace period is not available for this scheme’. Could anyone tell me of the way to get a refund of the lost amount?

i am happy with excelp condition.that is 2 number 10 poisa per miniute.1 mobile and 1 land line……
but…

21 june.
it is increases 20 poisa per miniute..it is un fear to the old customer……
new customer should maintained it..
