Yes, you will be charged for web browsing , Emails etc @ 1 paise per KB and but not charged extra for BSNL portal like “cellone.in” GPRS is a medium for transmitting data and you are allowed free to use GPRS medium for sending MMS , downloading ringtones . wallpapers etc ( No limit for Rs 199 Plan)

Hi,

I have activated BSNL GPRS Plan 199 on my Nokia 6131 two days back. Althought they promised upto 112 kbps I am getting only 20kbps (I checked that from the site pcpitstop.com’s bandwidth test and also from McAfee’s test both showed 20kbps only and yes its pretty slow.

Now according that plan it offers unlimited browsing but when I checked my balance using AMT to 333 I find that am billed for browsing. But the message also tells “GPRS customers discount will be given in the bill” so is that means that they will credit these charges back to my account?

Somebody who is currently using this plan and have got the bill please reply to this….

I have activated BSNL GPRS on my Sony P990i. While I am able to view webpages and read my mail on Hotmail/Yahoo/Gmail etc., I am unable to send MMS although MMS has been activated. Could you send me the right settings please? Also I have been unable to configure my phone /laptop for surfing internet on my laptop through this GPRS. Please help. Settings downloaded from BSNL webpage via sms has not solved my problem.

Further I have configured my ActiveSync to read my official email hosted by www.pair.webmail.com. Can this push mail facility also be used for an html based email account?

Will be very grateful indeed if you could help me out.

I am using Airtel Mobile office Rs 249. it was okay but airtel changes schemes without notice. Mobile office is now Rs 498. Tomorrow i am switching over to bsnl 199 Unlimitted on some post paid connection. Call rates are also cheaper. I will let others know about my experience. Airtel’s speed was not at all good. File download speed was only arround 5 KB/s. I am using nokia N 70.

BSNL gave me a lot of trouble at the point of activation.

But i am verry happy now

Dear Sir,
I am using BSNL GPRS plan 199/- on my Sony Ericsson K750i very well. I have installed Sony Ericsson K750i PC suit on my toshiba laptop. All the setting are ok. computer show that internet is connected but it can not open any page. The message is page can not be displayed. Within one to two minutes the bytes received and bytes sent stops though the computer shows active internet. I have tried each and everything on my level. Cutermer care is also unable to solve the problem. Please do inform me the solution.

Yes, EDGE settings is different than GPRS settings. Call BSNL service number and ask them to send u a settings for yr mobile set (U will have to specify which set u r using). EDGE should be faster than GPRS, don’t worry definitely u will get faster speed with EDGE.

i hardly make 2 0r 3 calls from my 100 plan as i m using airtel for calls……

i get this100 plan only for using gprs….so my one month package is Rs.299(100plan + 199 gprs)……but yesterday i check my 15 days bill by sms….its Rs. 670 …..

about my surfing and downloading………
i surf alot both in mobile and pc ………n i download(excluding surfing ) about 30 to 40 mb from mobile and over 300mb from my pc……………

I have a problem with my gprs199 postpaid plan that from the last 2 days whenever i want to connect internet my handset prompts me a message which reads, “web:connection time-out”. Even if i get connected to web i frequently get disconnected after surfing of 2-3 minutes. May please help by sending the valuable suggestions. I contacted customer care who advised me to delete the previous settings and save the new settings. I did the same but again i could not get connected to internet.

I am using BSNL GPRS unlimited connection in Kolkata circle for a while now…..every thing was ok till Aug 26,2007…..since then the quality of service has deteriorated quite steeply……. it gets connected but the speed is not at all browsable ……..have to keep on refreshing to open a page……customer care of BSNL is as usual……sometimes the say server is currently down ….sometimes they say upgradation process is taking palace….and so on….are other users also facing this kind of problem(GPRS)…

This is just because of staff like BSNL that people dont know the concept of telecommunications.

Its better to hit a wall than to talk to your staff

If we ask for our statement then we get it after 10 days min. this is what called telecommunication and comupertised system. But what will computer do if ur staff at Bahu Plaza, Jammu is so lazy and dont even sit on their seat.

How to access gmail using cellone on Nokia:
Assuming you already got a gprs/web working, download gmail client (MIDP2) from gmail/apps.
Go Sttings->Configuration-> and define a NEW access point with following settings.

Setting Name CelloneSouth_gprs_n
Access Point Name gprssouth.cellone.in
User Name your mobile number with prefix 91 (9194xxxxxxxx )
Password your mobile number with prefix 91 (9194xxxxxxxx )

For those who need to download Gprs settings on bsnl mobile

For first time activation of GPRS visit nearest Bsnl customer care center.

To download settings visit http://www.cellone.in click on download Gprs/mms settings link located at the top right side. choose your region. enter your phone no with +91. you will get a password. enter the password on the website. go to device settings. choose your phone and model. press enter. you will get settings immediately.

Now choose Bsnl wap as your primary settings as in the default settings send by the bsnl, Cellone portal will be selected. you cannot browse any website with that settings. hence change default internet profile to “bsnl wap”. i dont know about nokia.

For sony ericsson go to connectivity, internet profiles, choose Bsnl-Wap.

To view yahoo mail download “flurry” from http://www.flurry.com
