Yes, you will be charged for web browsing , Emails etc @ 1 paise per KB and but not charged extra for BSNL portal like “cellone.in” GPRS is a medium for transmitting data and you are allowed free to use GPRS medium for sending MMS , downloading ringtones . wallpapers etc ( No limit for Rs 199 Plan)

Hi,

I have activated BSNL GPRS Plan 199 on my Nokia 6131 two days back. Althought they promised upto 112 kbps I am getting only 20kbps (I checked that from the site pcpitstop.com’s bandwidth test and also from McAfee’s test both showed 20kbps only and yes its pretty slow.

Now according that plan it offers unlimited browsing but when I checked my balance using AMT to 333 I find that am billed for browsing. But the message also tells “GPRS customers discount will be given in the bill” so is that means that they will credit these charges back to my account?

Somebody who is currently using this plan and have got the bill please reply to this….

I have activated BSNL GPRS on my Sony P990i. While I am able to view webpages and read my mail on Hotmail/Yahoo/Gmail etc., I am unable to send MMS although MMS has been activated. Could you send me the right settings please? Also I have been unable to configure my phone /laptop for surfing internet on my laptop through this GPRS. Please help. Settings downloaded from BSNL webpage via sms has not solved my problem.

Further I have configured my ActiveSync to read my official email hosted by www.pair.webmail.com. Can this push mail facility also be used for an html based email account?

Will be very grateful indeed if you could help me out.

i m using AIRTEL GPRS in DIBRUGARH,ASSAM for last 1 yr,but m not at all satisfied with it’s service coz it is very-very slow and takes around 10-15 mins to open a webpage….whereas on the other hand i ve seen my friends using BSNL GPRS and they are having a very good time,specially after they provided EDGE technology……

I am using Airtel Mobile office Rs 249. it was okay but airtel changes schemes without notice. Mobile office is now Rs 498. Tomorrow i am switching over to bsnl 199 Unlimitted on some post paid connection. Call rates are also cheaper. I will let others know about my experience. Airtel’s speed was not at all good. File download speed was only arround 5 KB/s. I am using nokia N 70.

Today i have been able to successfully use the internet using my cell phone for the second time using BSNL GPRS post paid 199 unlimitted download scheme
BSNL gave me a lot of trouble at the point of activation.

But i am verry happy now

download speed steady 12 kbps when i download winamp.

and yes its EDGE now.

Dear Sir,
I am using BSNL GPRS plan 199/- on my Sony Ericsson K750i very well. I have installed Sony Ericsson K750i PC suit on my toshiba laptop. All the setting are ok. computer show that internet is connected but it can not open any page. The message is page can not be displayed. Within one to two minutes the bytes received and bytes sent stops though the computer shows active internet. I have tried each and everything on my level. Cutermer care is also unable to solve the problem. Please do inform me the solution.

Yes, EDGE settings is different than GPRS settings. Call BSNL service number and ask them to send u a settings for yr mobile set (U will have to specify which set u r using). EDGE should be faster than GPRS, don’t worry definitely u will get faster speed with EDGE.

im using bsnl 199gprs plan…..on my 100plan connection(gov. emply)/////////////
i hardly make 2 0r 3 calls from my 100 plan as i m using airtel for calls……

i get this100 plan only for using gprs….so my one month package is Rs.299(100plan + 199 gprs)……but yesterday i check my 15 days bill by sms….its Rs. 670 …..

about my surfing and downloading………
i surf alot both in mobile and pc ………n i download(excluding surfing ) about 30 to 40 mb from mobile and over 300mb from my pc……………

I have a problem with my gprs199 postpaid plan that from the last 2 days whenever i want to connect internet my handset prompts me a message which reads, “web:connection time-out”. Even if i get connected to web i frequently get disconnected after surfing of 2-3 minutes. May please help by sending the valuable suggestions. I contacted customer care who advised me to delete the previous settings and save the new settings. I did the same but again i could not get connected to internet.

I am using BSNL GPRS unlimited connection in Kolkata circle for a while now…..every thing was ok till Aug 26,2007…..since then the quality of service has deteriorated quite steeply……. it gets connected but the speed is not at all browsable ……..have to keep on refreshing to open a page……customer care of BSNL is as usual……sometimes the say server is currently down ….sometimes they say upgradation process is taking palace….and so on….are other users also facing this kind of problem(GPRS)…

This is just because of staff like BSNL that people dont know the concept of telecommunications.

Its better to hit a wall than to talk to your staff

For those who need to download Gprs settings on bsnl mobile

For first time activation of GPRS visit nearest Bsnl customer care center.

To download settings visit http://www.cellone.in click on download Gprs/mms settings link located at the top right side. choose your region. enter your phone no with +91. you will get a password. enter the password on the website. go to device settings. choose your phone and model. press enter. you will get settings immediately.

Now choose Bsnl wap as your primary settings as in the default settings send by the bsnl, Cellone portal will be selected. you cannot browse any website with that settings. hence change default internet profile to “bsnl wap”. i dont know about nokia.

For sony ericsson go to connectivity, internet profiles, choose Bsnl-Wap.

Ok i just spoke with the customer care, he told me that according to the 199/- plan, i can surf unlimited.. although i will be charged for downloads.. I wanted to use the same conxtion for my comp as well but since I download a lot, i guess it’ll not be economical in that sense..

I have read your mail.Please note that you have opted for the best plan in India.Other private players are just digging deep into subscriber’s pockets.There is no ’setting problem’ as you have put it.
Though BSNL has MMS services options but these are not activated in all the states,reasons govt security angles.
At the time of activation and when you receive 4-5 configuration messages from your service provider you do get portal for MMS download too.Contact BSNL at 24 hrs.helpline —–24365 in your area.
I was in Silchar in 1965 and I have fond memories of that place.There used to be an english school by the name of HOLY CROSS SCHOOL we used to cross the govt. hospital and reach school.Is that school still there?

Hi I am Hemant from Chhattisgarh… I activated my CellOne GPRS facility after much effort.
I called the BSNL Customer Care for hours and
at last someone attended and then he instruct me to send SMS
GPRSPLAN199 to 53733
and then my CellOne got GPRS activated. after that

I was searching the Manual Configuration for my Motorola V3x and some other useful informations.
I searched the google and found many BSNL sites with good infos here many people have helped here too..

Dear Sir, I am subscriber to GPRS connection of Cell One under Plan 199. What I have been told by the BSNL authorities is that the internet usage under plan 199 is unlimited. It is only a fortnight since activation but my mobile usage charges has risen to Rs800/-. My Cell One plan is 100 & mobile no is 9447749312. BSNL has the most atrocious billing system. Its been 3 months since I have the 123 plan of postpaid and the 199 plan of GPRS and this month when I received the bill I saw that they have charged me GPRS rental for the the months of June & July(which I have already paid) and charged me twice for the month of August. The Customer Care has the worst people you can ever find. If they dont know what information you want their only reply is that their servers are down. I now regret taking a BSNL connection.

I have contacted the customer care No +919436324365, enquiring about the usage of GPRS Plan 2 i.e Rs. 199. I was told that the usage and browsing is unlimited. Further, you have also clarified vide your letter above that browsing and downloading is free. However, on perusal of the above letter addressed to you, it is seen that various BSNL/GPRS users have been charges for the browsing and downloading.

I am in Chennai and unfortunately using a BSNL Prepaid plan. I need the edge settings for my Nokia 5200. I do have the GPRS settings(God knows how I got them) and I also get the small ‘G’ or ‘E’ but the settings fail to connect. Please help.

sorry nikita i was not able to answer ur q as i was out of town. bsnl gprs in plan 199 is totally free. i am only charged rental and no extra charges for downloading or surfing.however in my bill the amount of data i use is mentioned. u can with out any worry take the connection.. bt one thing even though bsnl provides EDGE bt still its speed is at best 7kbps in edge network and 2kbps in simple gprs network..so u must b ready to bear slow speed…thnks

i have 725 bill plan (postpaid) and nokia N73. earlier i have used 199/- plan. BSNL told me that you have to deactivate current plan (199) and activate a new plan-3, free rental for 725. bcz its already having GPRS USAGE FREE. so i have made request through an application. they activated new plan and i got the settings. i deleted all settings and recvd new settings. But “bsnl_internet” gprs settings are not working. i have checked portal settings, they are working. BSNL activated on last saturday but im not getting the perfect grps facility. plz help me out sir.

Internet Plan - Rs.199 per Month UNLIMITED (NO Limit…)
State - Maharashtra

Still Only In Rs.(199 + 99) i m using UNLIMITED INTERNET…
According to my monthly bills i used near about 60 GB / month
Due to its low speed in 2G (20 - 35 kbps)… but no problem with that :-p
