Slick New Search Engine from Google sans the Branding
Published October 5th, 2006 in Internet. Tags: No Tags.
Google has created a search site without any Google branding to test new features. The site, SearchMash, has a simple blue and white interface with a search bar and an option to click on “popular searches.”
Web results are accompanied by image results on the right. You can also change the order of the search results shown - just click on the number next to any listing and you can move it up or down. Clicking on the url line of a result pops up options like opening in same or new window, cache, similar pages, etc.
The “more web pages” link brings forth the next 10 results on the same page. The effect looks cool!
Interestingly, there is nothing Google on the site. It is only in the privacy page where you get to see:
SearchMash is a website operated by Google Inc.
