The Big G is again in the news. It is a new service from Google that has already taken the web by storm even before it has been officially released. Google Base, according to the Official google Blog, is presently under testing. But it was live for sometime as one can see the screenshots in Flickr.
Google Base is Google’s database into which you can add all types of content. We’ll host your content and make it searchable online for free.
Examples of items you can find in Google Base:
• Description of your party planning service
• Articles on current events from your website
• Listing of your used car for sale
• Database of protein structuresYou can describe any item you post with attributes, which will help people find it when they search Google Base. In fact, based on the relevance of your items, they may also be included in the main Google search index and other Google products like Froogle and Google Local.
Simply said, it is going to be a huge database accessible to Google users.
Google’s Q3 revenues this year was nearly double that of last year. As the company’s revenues increase dramatically, Google’s activities are under more scrutiny than ever. Google Base has already fuelled speculations that Google is going to devour eBay and Craigslist.
If you are wondering about the title of this post, well… the title actually harks back to the infamous phrase “All your base are belong to us“!
