Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza has finally broken into the top 50 in the latest rankings of the Women’s Tennis Association released Monday. Sania is ranked 48th in the world with 706.5 points.It’s a dream come true for her.
Among other Indians, only Ramesh Krishnan had been in this prestigious top 50 club, in the first half of 1980. Before this, the highest rank ever attained by an Indian woman had been 134 by Nirupama Vaidyanathan in 1997.
