JU to become IIT?

A recent proposal of the centre is to raise the two universities of our state—Jadavpur (where I study) & Shibpur–to the IIT standard. Currently West Bengal has an IIT at Kharagpur. If the above proposal is really carried out then Bengal will be having 3 IITs, something to be proud of. But the WB government has other calculations in mind. The centre’s offer if executed would mean the state losing control over the two top universities of the state since IITs are centrally controlled.

    It would be disgusting to see that the state government misses out opportunity to have pride of having three IITs in their state!!

    AS a student of JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY i will always say that ju should be upgraded to iit status but hold on…. we will be going to lose our autonomous previlege which is certainly not feasible.
