As you already know, I am studying printing engg. in JU. The job prospects of this course are much better than what I had thought. This year out of 19 students 18 got jobs in campus. Out of these 18 fellows, 2-3 got 3rd class jobs — their salaries are in the range of 6-7 kilos. All other have been well placed in companies like Wipro, IBM, etc. This is hapenning because the students are going to the software sector instead of joining the printing industry. Their starting salaries are in the vicinity of 20k.

Jobs in printing sector are also as lucrative as software sector. But the problem is that in Bengal, there are not too many good printing industries save ABP, TOI, etc. But if you go to the south, there are too many jobs in printing sector—ya, that is for certain. One guy this year was taken by a German company. He flew to Germany for training and is about to get his appointment letter.
So all in all, I feel good to be here in Printing Engineering department of Jadavpur University, the best engineering institution in Bengal and one of the best few in India.
